Automobile Engineering is a branch of engineering which deals with designing, manufacturing and operating automobiles. It is a segment of vehicle engineering which deals with motorcycles, buses, trucks, etc. It includes mechanical, electrical, electronic, software and safety elements. Automobile engineering is a huge industry.

Work shop practice is the fundamental exposure to basic skill required for all students pursuing their studies in various diploma‐engineering disciplines. The practice experience would help students to understand the intricacies of industrial Working in relatively shorter period of time more over the contents of this Curricula forms a basic link for higher studies of engineering programs. The students are advised to undergo each skill experience with know‐how approach giving special emphasis to know‐why for the various instructions imparted to them in each shop.
Automobile Engineering Lab
The Lab is well-equipped and enables students to understand the fundamentals of Automotive Engineering which includes basic structure, body style, power plant and wheel & Tyre assembly. Major Equipment in Automobile Engineering Lab are:- Chassis of an automobile, synchromesh gear box, Hydraulic and Mechanical brake, Vehicle lighting system, Wheel and tyre assembly, Wind screen and Clutches. These Courses includes Designing and producing visual interpretations of automobiles and their components using computer-aided design packages. Researching, designing and developing machinery and systems for automobiles. Preparing material, cost and timing estimates, reports and design specifications.
IC Engine Lab
The laboratory is equipped with number of equipment & experimental setups to study the fundamental & applied aspects of the internal combustion (IC) engines. The laboratory facilitates experimental based performance evaluations of a wide variety of IC engines using a wide variety of fuels including the 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation Bio fuels. It also facilitates evaluation of exhaust smoke and emissions of IC engines and EOBD, ECU Diagnosis, Components Tests of IC engine based transport vehicles. With wide varieties of engines, associated computer assisted equipment.
Materials Tools & Technology Lab
Material technologies are advancing very fast with the expansion of technology. This
course will provide basic insight to the students regarding methods of bending test, shear test and non destructive. The course gives the opportunity for exhaustive study of metal testing Mechanical properties of materials, destructive including Tensile test, compressiontest, hardness test, impact test fatigue test, endurance limit, bending test, shear test andnon‐ destructive testing methods. The abilities developed by studying this course will be directly helpful to all the technicians; in whichever field they are employed.
Strength of Materials Lab
The Technicians from Automobile engineering discipline are expected to know much about this subject so as to fulfill his job functions efficiently. The knowledge is very essential for those who are engaged in design, maintenance, shop‐ floor inspection, and quality control and production departments. The course includes the study of behavior of Engineering materials and stress produced in the structure due to various types of loading systems. The subjects are kept in diploma course so that the students of mechanical engineering discipline should know the proper use of material for common engineering problems.
Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics Machines Lab
This course is intended to introduce basic principles of fluid mechanics. It is further
extended to cover the application of fluid mechanics by the inclusion of fluid machinery especially water turbine and water pumps. Now days the principles of fluid mechanics find wide applications in many situations directly or indirectly. The use of fluid machinery, turbines pumps in general and in power stations in getting as accelerated fill up. Thus there is a great relevance for this course for mechanical technicians.The Automobile technicians have to deal with large variety of fluids like water, air, steam, ammonia and even plastics. The major emphasis is given for the study of water. However the principle dealt with in this course will be applicable to all in-compressible fluid.
