Industrial Visit at Omkareshwar Hydropower Plant

Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized a one day Industrial Visit & educational tour dated 15/03/2016, to train the students about rituals and culture and also to provide guidance on technologies related to SCADA in hydropower station, electrical motor for cooling & electrical panel.


Students of Electrical & Electronics (B.Tech + Diploma) along with six faculty members visited Omkareshwar Hydro electric power plant Located at Omkareshwar on 15th March 2016.

Omkareshwar Hydropower plant named after the Omkareshwar temple downstream. The dam was constructed between 2003 and 2007 with the purpose of providing water for irrigation of 132,500 ha (327,000 acres). An associated hydroelectric power station located at the base of the dam has an installed capacity of 520 MW. Omkareshwar (8 x 65 MW) H.E.P has set unmatched standards for execution of Hydro Power Projects in India.

Students were guided by Chief Engineer Mr. Aloknath Gude of Omkareshwar power plant. Students were satisfied with the practical elaboration of knowledge. They all appreciated the visit organized by university as this visit helped them in better understanding of the hydro-power plant they have learned.
